India's Strategic Autonomy

NatStrat, in collaboration with the India International Centre (IIC), hosted a public discussion on 28 April 2026 on its latest publication, India's Strategic Autonomy, a collection of essays by India's most experienced practitioners and strategic experts. The discussants offered sharp insights into the evolution, meaning and relevance of strategic autonomy and its implications for India's grand strategy in an increasingly polarised world.

The evening opened with a fireside chat between Shri Shyam Saran, President, India International Centre, and Ambassador Pankaj Saran, Convenor, NatStrat. It was followed by a panel discussion featuring Ambassador Jawed Ashraf, Chairman, ITPO, and Vice Admiral (Retd) SJ Singh, Director General, United Service Institution of India, moderated by Ms Suhasini Haidar, Diplomatic Affairs Editor, The Hindu. The concluding remarks were delivered by Shri MJ Akbar, eminent author and columnist.

The event drew a full house, with members of the diplomatic, strategic and policy community, including several Ambassadors based in New Delhi.
