Dr Chemmalar Patcheappan

Dr. Chemmalar Patcheappan is a feminist writer and legal scholar, currently serving as an Associate Professor at Crescent School of Law, Chennai. Her interdisciplinary expertise lies at the confluence of international law and Human rights Law, gender justice, constitutional law, and intersectional theory. With a strong commitment to critical pedagogy, she challenges entrenched power structures and interrogates patriarchal norms through both academic research and community-oriented advocacy.

She holds a Doctorate in Law from SRM School of Law, preceded by a Master’s degree in Public International Law, and a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) from Pondicherry University. Her academic journey is distinguished by a passion for legal clarity, precision and social justice, especially in matters relating to International Human Rights.
