Nikhil Sahu

Nikhil Sahu is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for South Asian Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). He is pursuing his PhD with a focus on Nepal's defence relations with China and India. Nikhil works closely with the Embassy of Nepal and the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on bilateral relations.
He holds a Master’s in Politics with a specialisation in International Relations from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has interned with leading think-tanks in India and Nepal: the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and the Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE).
Nikhil’s core research interests lie in India’s relations with South Asia and China’s growing footprint in the region. He regularly writes on contemporary developments in Nepal and broader regional dynamics.
