M J Akbar
Former Minister of State for External Affairs
M J Akbar is an Indian journalist, author, and politician who served as the Minister of State for External Affairs from 2016 to 2018. He was elected to Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand in July 2015. During his long and illustrious career in journalism, he launched, as editor, India's first weekly political news periodicals, including India Today, Headlines Today, The Telegraph, The Asian Age and Deccan Chronicle, among others. He is author of several books including India: The Siege Within: Challenges to a Nation’s Unity, Tinderbox: The Past and Future of Pakistan, Doolally Sahib and the Black Zamindar: Racism and Revenge in the British Raj and The Shade of Swords.
